Vision Zero Improvements

Leading Pedestrian Interval: A Leading Pedestrian Interval (LPI) typically gives pedestrians a 3–7 second head start when entering an intersection with a corresponding green signal in the same direction of travel. Speed Feedback Signs: Radar speed signs, also known as driver feedback signs, are traffic-calming devices designed to slow speeders down by alerting them of their speed

Yield Pedestrian Crosswalk Paddle: Paddles serve the intended purpose of increasing awareness to the crosswalks and pedestrians.Pedestrian Refuge Islands: A pedestrian safety island reduces the exposure time experienced by a pedestrian in the intersection. Interim Intersection Tightening: Uses temporary materials like paint, plastic bollards, and reflective markers to visually and physically narrow the street at intersections. Creates a shorter crossing for people walking with reduced exposure to traffic. Slows vehicles approaching intersections and encourages slower and more careful turns. Provides more space between people walking and people driving.

Scramble Crosswalks: Scramble Crosswalks is a type of traffic signal movement that temporarily stops all vehicular traffic, thereby allowing pedestrians to cross an intersection in every direction, including diagonally, at the same time. Activated Pedestrian Warning Devices: Activated Pedestrian Warning Devices (APWD) or Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) - In cases where traffic signal control cannot be authorized, but where the combination of moderate pedestrian volumes and roadway conditions indicate increased risk of pedestrian crashes, the installation of a marked crosswalk can be supplemented by pedestrian actuated beacons or flashing devices. These flashing yellow devices will increase driver awareness of pedestrians that are crossing the roadway.High Visibility Crosswalks: High Visibility Crosswalks benefit pedestrians by directing them to cross at signalized intersections or locations where crosswalks are typically marked, at key crossings in neighborhoods with designated school walking routes, and at certain types of uncontrolled crossings., High Visibility Crosswalks are more easily detected by motorists than other styles, so that drivers become aware of the potential for pedestrians to be present and can yield sooner.  Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB): Increases motorist yielding. The RRFB uses high-intensity LEDs (light-emitting diodes) to alert drivers of pedestrians in a crosswalk in real-time.
